Pink Pomelo Retail Data: Align Pieces, Weight and Checkout

Connect pomelo purchasing units with warehouse and checkout records. Define the product item, packaging level and selling unit before testing a receipt and sale.

Pink pomelo retail data can create expensive confusion when purchasing orders cartons, the warehouse counts pieces and the checkout sells kilograms. All three may be valid, but they need a documented relationship. Build the item record around the actual trading arrangement before stock arrives. Do not let an unlabeled “quantity” field decide how fruit is valued or replenished.

Define the item and its packaging level

Record the commercial product description, internal item identifier and the packaging level used in each system. Distinguish a shipping carton from the unit purchased by the consumer. GS1 US's product field definitions treat description, packaging level and net-content units as separate information; that separation is useful when designing a clear item record.

Keep the product identity distinct from the lot code. The item record describes what is traded, while the lot record identifies particular goods received. Replacing a product identifier with a batch date can break stock history, just as using one generic batch for all receipts weakens traceability.

Write the unit conversions explicitly

Ten cartons containing eight fruits each represent eighty pieces, if that count is the confirmed packing basis. They do not establish a total kilogram weight. Separately, ten cartons declared as twelve kilograms net each represent 120 kilograms on that stated basis. These are illustrative calculations, not offered HAFAMEX pack sizes.

  • Purchase unit and the basis used for invoicing.
  • Receiving unit and actual measurement or counting method.
  • Internal stock unit and any permitted conversion.
  • Consumer selling unit and checkout description.
  • Handling of variable actual weights and any packaging tare.

Test a complete transaction before listing

Create a controlled test receipt, stock movement and sale using the proposed item record. Check that the system reduces the correct quantity and applies the intended price unit. If a scale or barcode is involved, verify the value that reaches the checkout rather than assuming a successful scan means the calculation is correct.

Include a return or correction in the test. A system that records the sale correctly but returns a carton when one fruit is returned can distort stock immediately. Keep the test separate from live customer transactions and have the responsible retail team approve the result.

Manage changes without losing history

If the carton count, selling unit or product definition changes, review the item setup with the trading partner. Where GS1 identifiers are used, check the applicable identifier-management rules rather than inventing or reusing a code casually. Preserve earlier transaction records under the definitions that applied at the time.

Assign an owner for the item record and keep the approved fields available to purchasing, warehousing and sales. For a new retail partner, confirm their data format and test process early. Clear product data supports a reliable launch without making assumptions about a particular country's checkout system.

Provide your buying and selling units through the HAFAMEX Pink Pomelo page so a proposed carton specification can be discussed against the item data your business needs.
