Taiwan Pesticide Residue Limits for Fruit: Preparing Supplier Evidence

Prepare fruit residue evidence for Taiwan using current TFDA rules, crop-specific laboratory review, representative sampling and shipment-linked records.

Taiwan pesticide residue limits for fruit need to be assessed against the actual crop and the current applicable rules. A supplier’s domestic pass certificate may not answer the destination’s requirements. Buyers should agree the laboratory scope and lot identification before the fruit is committed to the shipment.

Use the current TFDA requirements

Taiwan FDA publishes the Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods, with the page showing an amendment dated 21 April 2026. The provisions include crop classifications, relevant tables and treatment of substances not listed or prohibited, subject to stated exceptions.

Have a qualified reviewer determine the applicable requirement for the specific fruit. Avoid applying a limit from another commodity or assuming that the same chemical has an identical treatment across destination markets.

Give the laboratory a useful product brief

Provide the fruit identity, production origin, product form and intended destination. Include the relevant treatment history available from the producer. Ask whether the proposed method and analyte scope address the actual substances and residue definitions of concern.

Confirm how the laboratory will report units, detection or quantification limits and the basis of any compliance statement. A buyer should understand what the result can support rather than relying on a colored pass mark.

Define the sampling and lot relationship

Record who selects the sample and how it represents the commercial goods. Link the sample with the source and packing lot, and document the date, quantity, seal and chain of custody as appropriate.

Where several supplying sources are combined, ask whether one sample provides sufficient information for the intended decision. Do not quietly replace the sampled lot with different fruit while continuing to present the report as shipment evidence.

Review the complete report before release

Check the product description, method, results and assessment basis. If a result is reported as not detected, understand the method’s reporting threshold. It does not establish absolute absence at every concentration.

Clarify missing information before loading. An incomplete report can become much harder to resolve when the fruit has already moved and the sample or source records are no longer readily available. Assign responsibility for the release decision and keep a record of the review.

Retain evidence for repeat supply

Store the laboratory report with the order, lot records, specification and dispatch details. An established supplier still needs appropriate evidence for subsequent lots. Use previous results to inform a risk-based program rather than relabeling an old report as a test of new goods.

Investigate unusual results with the producer and laboratory. Determine whether the issue concerns application records, sampling, analytical scope or the lot itself. Change the specific weak control rather than assuming every problem can be solved by ordering a broader generic test panel.

Frequently asked questions

Does passing another market’s test establish Taiwan compliance?

No. The crop classification, residue definition and limits must be assessed against Taiwan’s applicable requirements for the product.

Can a residue report replace plant-quarantine documents?

No. Chemical-residue assessment and plant-health certification address different requirements. Keep both reviews in the shipment plan where they apply.

Discuss your sourcing requirements
