Monthong Harvest Maturity: Ask for Evidence Behind the Claim
Review harvest references and maturity assessment records for a Monthong lot instead of relying on a promised number of days.
A Monthong buyer needs to distinguish harvest maturity from the texture expected at consumption. A statement such as “ready after several days” does not explain the harvest decision or establish how the offered lot was assessed. Ask for the underlying evidence before agreeing the delivery target.
Request records tied to the lot
Ask which harvest or production reference identifies the fruit and which maturity assessment was used. If a dry-matter result is provided, request the sample identity, method, date and responsible party. A number copied from a standard or another lot is not a measurement of the fruit being offered.
Check the scope of any cited requirement
ACFS guidance on durian inspection and receiving discusses maturity evidence and inspection records. If a supplier cites a particular standard, confirm the current version, product scope and relevant market context with the responsible importer or quality team. Avoid applying one threshold universally to all cultivars, product forms or origins.
Connect evidence to the commercial target
Describe the condition required at receiving and when the customer plans to use the fruit. Review a representative sample alongside the records. Ask what will happen if the proposed lot changes before loading. An earlier successful sample does not automatically approve a substitute harvest batch.
Keep the acceptance decision traceable
Record the documents reviewed, sample findings and outstanding conditions before purchase approval. Do not reduce the decision to a verbal assurance that the fruit is “old enough”. Send HAFAMEX the intended Monthong form, receiving window and required maturity evidence so the proposed supply can be assessed against an explicit buyer brief.
