Pink Pomelo Orders: Agree Acceptance and Tolerance Rules
Turn a pomelo purchase specification into usable inspection decisions. Define categories, denominators and decision owners before discussing acceptable variation.
Pink pomelo acceptance rules should explain what happens when fruit differs from the purchase brief. A specification containing only size, colour and an attractive photograph leaves the receiver to invent the decision process. Before dispatch, agree which observations matter, how they will be recorded and who can decide whether a difference is acceptable. This is a practical commercial worksheet, not a substitute for professional contract advice.
Separate the criteria before choosing tolerances
List product identity, quantity or weight, external appearance and internal quality as separate areas. Food-safety concerns should follow the appropriate safety process rather than being negotiated as ordinary cosmetic variation. A fruit may satisfy the appearance brief while another criterion remains unresolved.
For each commercial criterion, state the method and unit. A percentage by fruit count is different from a percentage by net weight or carton count. Avoid using the same “percentage defective” field for all three without identifying which basis applies.
Define observations people can reproduce
Connect appearance categories to agreed reference photographs and short descriptions. For internal observations, specify how sampled fruit will be opened and recorded. Identify ambiguous cases that need another review. If two inspectors describe the same mark differently, resolve the definition before setting a numerical allowance.
- Criterion and agreed description.
- Observation or measurement method.
- Sampling plan and the unit counted.
- Decision rule agreed by the buyer and seller.
- Responsible reviewer and escalation route for unresolved findings.
Keep the denominator visible
Suppose three of thirty inspected fruits show a defined feature. The result is ten percent of the inspected fruits. It is not automatically ten percent of the whole shipment, and it is not a recommended tolerance. A formal lot-acceptance conclusion needs an appropriate agreed sampling and decision method; do not create statistical confidence from a convenient sample count.
Record whether one fruit can belong to several observation categories. Without that rule, adding category counts can produce more affected fruit than were inspected. Keep the individual fruit record so overlapping observations remain understandable.
Agree the decision process and its evidence
Define the information the receiver should preserve, the people to notify and how a review will proceed. Any notification period or remedy should come from the actual agreement, not from a generic article. State what happens while a decision is pending so the fruit is identified and handled appropriately.
Use a short rehearsal with sample photographs and invented observations to see whether both sides reach the same interpretation. Version the agreed worksheet and retain the approved copy with the order. If the pack, size mix or intended use changes, review the affected rules instead of silently carrying every earlier condition forward. Clear definitions reduce disputes more effectively than an unexplained promise of “premium quality.”
