Seedless Lime Sizes: Compare Carton Count and Diameter
Understand why lime count per carton and diameter grades answer different questions when preparing a wholesale specification.
A seedless lime count grade tells the buyer how many pieces are packed under a defined packing basis. A diameter grade describes a physical dimension. Neither can be converted reliably into the other without checking the actual fruit and carton specification.
Ask what the size name means
Request the supplier’s written definition of the offered grade. Confirm the net carton weight, permitted count range and any diameter or individual-weight band. Names such as small, medium and large are insufficient when different suppliers use different boundaries. Keep the stated unit beside every number in the buying brief.
Measure according to one agreed orientation
For a diameter check, specify the measurement position and tool. Do not let one inspector measure length while another measures width. Record a distribution across the selected sample, including fruit outside the proposed band. For count checks, verify the actual carton content and its net weight rather than estimating from a photograph.
Choose the measure that fits the application
A garnish programme may prioritise a consistent cut diameter. A kitchen juicing the fruit may focus more on usable output and handling efficiency. A retailer selling per piece needs to understand piece count and likely price perception. These priorities can coexist, but the purchase order should identify which are mandatory and which are preferences.
Resolve differences before loading
If a sample fits the diameter target but misses the requested count, ask whether the packing arrangement or size distribution needs adjustment. Do not silently revise one requirement to make the other pass. Send HAFAMEX a preferred size definition, carton basis and intended use; the final grade and packing combination should be confirmed for the offered lot.
