Fresh Passion Fruit, Puree or Concentrate: Write a Clear RFQ

A passion fruit enquiry should identify the required product form before asking for a price. Compare fresh fruit, pulp, puree and concentrate on clearly defined quantities and uses.

When contacting a fresh passion fruit supplier, start by stating the form you want to buy. Whole fruit for retail, extracted pulp for a kitchen and concentrate for a beverage formulation are different purchasing enquiries. A price per kilogram is not a meaningful comparison until the contents of that kilogram are clear.

Name the product form and intended use

For whole fresh fruit, describe the required appearance, size range, carton specification and expected use. For processed products, state whether seeds are included, the required composition, preservation method and pack format. Terms such as pulp and puree can be used differently in trade, so obtain the seller’s actual technical description.

Codex distinguishes juice, puree and concentrated forms within its fruit-juice framework. A buyer should therefore avoid treating those names as interchangeable on a purchase order. Concentration, ingredients and the intended dilution or formulation must be confirmed for the offered product.

Use a complete enquiry checklist

  • Product form and purpose: retail fruit, foodservice preparation or manufacturing input.
  • Required quantity, unit of purchase and preferred pack size.
  • For fresh fruit: proposed cultivar, size/count, net weight and appearance criteria to confirm.
  • For a processed form: composition, seed content, solids specification, preservation and handling information to confirm.
  • Destination, delivery window, receiving facilities and requested commercial terms.

Compare equivalent output

A fresh-fruit price includes rind and material that may not enter the buyer’s recipe. A processed-product price may include extraction and preservation, but its composition must still be checked. Use a trial to measure the quantity of usable material obtained under your own preparation method.

For concentrate, compare costs only after the agreed formulation or reconstitution basis is known. Do not compare one kilogram of concentrate with one kilogram of fresh fruit, or assume that a labelled solids value establishes flavour or suitability for every application.

Confirm what is actually available

HAFAMEX’s linked Passion Fruit page is a fresh-fruit enquiry page. This guide explains buying terminology and does not confirm availability of puree, concentrate or frozen pulp. Request a written, lot-specific response for the product form you need, including the supporting specification and handling requirements before making a purchasing decision.
