Monthong Pulp Portions: Set Weight Targets and Tolerances

Specify Monthong portion form, target weight and a consistent checking method before approving packed servings.

A portion described as “one piece of Monthong” can vary substantially in what the customer receives. If the product will be sold or served in defined portions, state whether the target concerns an intact aril, deseeded flesh or total packed product. Then agree how it will be checked.

Define the portion before the weight

Identify seed status, acceptable piece integrity and whether several pieces may make up one portion. Clarify the packaging components and any other declared ingredients. A weight target cannot resolve a disagreement about product form; both belong in the specification.

Set a checking procedure

Use a suitable verified scale and the agreed tare procedure. Record individual portion weights, sample count and the point in production at which the measurement is taken. If the buyer needs a formal packaged-quantity assessment, have the responsible quality team confirm the applicable rules and method rather than treating a commercial trial as regulatory certification.

Look at variation, not just the average

An average near the target can hide portions that are noticeably different. Review the distribution and agree what constitutes an out-of-spec result. As a simple illustration, alternating 90 g and 110 g portions average 100 g but are not identical servings. The figures explain variation; they are not a recommended tolerance or a HAFAMEX pack size.

Balance appearance and production practicality

Trial the portioning method with the intended service or retail pack. Record whether meeting the weight changes piece integrity or adds excessive handling. Send HAFAMEX the Monthong form, target portion, packaging concept and required checking method. Confirm any available portioning arrangement and final tolerance for the actual order.
