Red Dragon Fruit Price: Compare Cost per Usable Kilogram
Compare red dragon fruit offers using saleable or usable output, with handling costs and losses on a consistent basis.
The lowest quoted price per kilogram is not always the lowest cost for a red dragon fruit buyer. The relevant denominator depends on the business: saleable whole fruit for a retailer, or usable flesh for a preparation kitchen. Choose one basis before comparing suppliers.
Build a comparable cost basket
Start with the same delivery point and commercial terms. List fruit cost, agreed freight, receiving charges and other costs included in the comparison. Keep uncertain charges visible rather than hiding them in a rounded allowance. Avoid comparing an origin price with a delivered price as though both cover the same work.
Measure the output that earns revenue
For whole-fruit sales, record the kilograms accepted for the intended grade and the quantities downgraded or rejected. For a kitchen, use the output from a controlled peeling and trimming trial. Do not apply a theoretical yield from another product form. Track revenue from any approved secondary outlet separately so it does not disguise the performance of the primary grade.
Test the calculation with an example
Suppose two illustrative deliveries each cost 100 units after the selected charges. If one produces 80 kg of usable output and the other 90 kg, their costs are 1.25 and about 1.11 units per usable kilogram. The example shows why the output matters; it is not a market price or a forecast of HAFAMEX fruit losses. Add labour and repacking only if they belong to the chosen comparison.
Use a range until the trial is reliable
Calculate a cautious and a favourable outcome from the observed trial range. If a supplier ranking changes with a small yield assumption, collect better evidence before a large order. Send HAFAMEX the intended product form, delivery point and usable-output definition so the quotation and trial can be evaluated together.
