White Dragon Fruit Arrival Checks: Build a Cut-Sample Record

Document a white dragon fruit arrival sample with carton references, cut observations and a clear decision trail.

Two halves of a white-flesh dragon fruit on a cutting board.

An arrival complaint is difficult to investigate when all the photographs show anonymous cut fruit. A cut-sample record should connect the fruit on the inspection bench to its carton, lot and receiving time. The aim is a reproducible account of what was observed, not an attractive photograph.

Identify the sample before opening it

Agree who selects cartons and how positions across the delivery are covered. Number each selected carton and each sampled fruit. Take a whole-fruit photograph beside its identifier before cutting. Record the receiving time, sample opening time and relevant handling history. Keep different lots separate even when their commercial descriptions are identical.

Record observations without guessing the cause

Use clean, suitable equipment under the receiver’s food-handling procedure. Photograph the cut surface promptly and describe what is visible: colour distribution, soft areas, unusual translucency or other deviations from the agreed reference. Note firmness and odour separately. Do not label a defect as transport abuse or orchard damage merely because it appears after delivery.

Report both normal and questioned samples

A report containing only the worst fruit cannot explain how common the issue is in the sample. State the total opened, the number meeting each criterion and the number requiring review. For example, “three questioned fruits out of twenty opened” communicates more than “several bad fruits”; it still does not establish the condition of every untested carton. Include intact identifiers in the photographs and keep the original files.

Close the loop with a decision

Separate the factual inspection sheet from the requested commercial remedy. Record whether the lot is accepted, held for further assessment or escalated under the agreed process. Send HAFAMEX the lot reference, sample positions, counts and unedited photographs when discussing a white dragon fruit quality question. This makes follow-up more precise than forwarding isolated images.
