White Dragon Fruit: Check Carton Count Against Net Weight
A receiving method for white dragon fruit buyers to reconcile fruit count, packaging tare and saleable net weight.
A white dragon fruit carton can contain the agreed number of pieces and still miss the agreed net fruit weight. Conversely, a carton may meet its weight target while carrying a size mix that does not suit the retailer. Treat these as two separate checks before approving a wholesale order.
Define what the invoice measures
Write down whether the quotation is per kilogram of fruit, per carton or per piece. Identify which packaging components are excluded from net weight: the outer box, liners, sleeves and pads. Ask the supplier to show both the declared fruit count and the target net weight on the packing specification. A count alone is not a conversion factor because individual fruit weights vary.
Build a receiving record that can be repeated
Select cartons from the agreed sample positions across the load, rather than choosing the easiest top box. Assign each carton a reference. Check the scale, weigh the full carton, count the fruit and separately establish packaging tare using the agreed procedure. Record individual fruit weights where a size range is part of the purchase. Preserve the original readings; do not replace them with a rounded average.
Use the difference to ask the right question
For an illustrative calculation, a full carton weighing 5.4 kg with 0.4 kg of packaging contains 5.0 kg of fruit. If ten pieces are present, their average is 500 g, but that average does not prove all ten fall within the contracted band. Review the distribution before accepting a size claim. These numbers demonstrate arithmetic, not a HAFAMEX packing offer.
Turn the results into a clear order
A short shipment, an incorrect size mix and transport damage require different evidence. Agree the sampling and claim process before dispatch, and compare received results with the same written basis. Send HAFAMEX the destination, desired fruit-weight band, proposed count and net-weight requirement so that the commercial offer can be checked against one consistent definition.
