Ri6 Durian: Compare Whole Fruit and Aril Cost Fairly

Use a measured Ri6 yield trial to compare whole-fruit and aril offers on the same usable-product basis.

A kilogram of whole Ri6 durian and a kilogram of packed arils are different purchasing units. Comparing their headline prices without accounting for shell, seeds, preparation and packaging can produce a misleading result. Start by defining the usable product the customer needs.

Name the product on both sides

Confirm whether an aril offer includes seeds and whether the required endpoint is intact seed-in portions or deseeded flesh. Record fresh or frozen form separately. A whole-fruit price cannot be compared directly with a frozen pulp price unless the costs and work needed to reach the same endpoint are made explicit.

Measure a representative conversion

For the whole-fruit trial, record input mass, shell and stem mass, seeds where removed, rejected material and acceptable output. Keep the lot and sample selection visible. Use an approved handling process and do not include unsuitable flesh merely to improve the apparent yield. Record labour, tools and disposal costs if they belong to the commercial comparison.

Show the denominator in the calculation

Suppose an illustrative whole-fruit trial costs 120 units and provides 6 kg of the agreed usable flesh: the fruit cost is 20 units per usable kilogram before preparation costs. An aril offer must be converted to the same endpoint before being compared. These numbers explain the method and do not represent a Ri6 market price, normal yield or HAFAMEX quotation.

Choose the form that suits the operation

Whole fruit may require skills and space that a packed product does not; packed products bring their own specification, handling and documentation needs. Compare those operational requirements alongside cost. Send HAFAMEX the required endpoint, product form and trial method, and request confirmation of available supply for the specific order rather than assuming all forms are offered.
